Terms of purchase
These terms apply when you buy something from askenback.com. They are written to be read, not to be survived. Where they say less than Swedish consumer law does, the law wins — nothing here takes away a right you have as a consumer.
Last updated 1 August 2026
1. Who you are buying from
Askenback is run by One Man Empire AB, a Swedish limited company registered in Stockholm.
- One Man Empire AB, Åsögatan 176, 116 32 Stockholm, Sweden
- Company registration number (org.nr): 556829-6205
- VAT registration number: SE556829620501
- Email: store@askenback.com
One person designs, cuts, stitches, packs and answers the mail. Email is the way to reach us, and it is answered within a couple of working days.
2. Who can order
You need to be 18 to place an order. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian has to agree to the purchase first. You can order as a private individual or as a business. The consumer rights described in sections 8 and 9 come from Swedish consumer law and apply when you buy as a private individual — business purchases are governed by the Swedish Sale of Goods Act (köplagen) instead.
3. The pieces themselves
Everything is made by hand from vegetable-tanned leather. Grain, tone, growth marks and small scars differ from hide to hide, so no two pieces are identical and none of them will match a photograph exactly. Product images are representative, not a colour proof. This natural variation is a property of the material, not a fault.
Leather also darkens and takes on a patina with use. That is the material behaving as it should.
4. Prices and VAT
All prices are shown in Swedish kronor (SEK) and include Swedish VAT at 25%. Shipping is added at checkout and shown to you before you pay. Tax is calculated automatically against your delivery address at checkout, so the total you approve is the total you pay — there are no customs charges or handling fees on deliveries within the EU.
If a price is obviously wrong — a decimal in the wrong place, a zero missing — we may cancel the order rather than ship at that price. We will contact you before dispatch, you can accept the corrected price or cancel, and if you cancel you get a full refund straight away.
5. Your order, and when the contract is made
You add pieces to the cart and complete the purchase on a checkout page hosted by Stripe. Placing the order is an offer to buy. The contract between us is formed when we accept that offer — in practice when your payment is confirmed and the order receipt is sent to your email address. Keep that receipt; it is your proof of purchase and carries your order number.
If we cannot fulfil an order — a hide runs out, a model is discontinued, something goes wrong in the workshop — we will tell you as soon as we know and refund you in full. We do not hold your money for an order we cannot deliver.
6. Payment
Payments are handled by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.). Depending on your country and device you can pay by card, Klarna, Swish, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Card details are entered on Stripe's own page — we never see, handle or store your full card number.
If you pay with Klarna, that is a separate agreement between you and Klarna Bank AB, on Klarna's terms and subject to their credit assessment. Your rights towards us for the goods themselves are unaffected by how you chose to pay.
Payment is taken when the order is placed. We do not store payment methods and there are no subscriptions or recurring charges.
7. Delivery
We ship to every EU country, and shipping is free. Dispatch times, carriers and costs are on the Shipping & returns page.
Unless we have agreed otherwise, delivery happens no later than 30 days after the contract is made. If we are late, you can give us a reasonable extra period in writing, and if we miss that too you can cancel the purchase and get your money back. Risk for the goods passes to you when you, or someone you have nominated other than the carrier, take physical possession of the parcel — if it is damaged or lost on the way to you, that is our problem to fix, not yours.
8. Right of withdrawal — 14 days
As a consumer buying at distance you have a 14-day right of withdrawal under the Swedish Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act (lag (2005:59) om distansavtal och avtal utanför affärslokaler). The period runs from the day you, or someone you nominated other than the carrier, took physical possession of the goods. If an order arrives in several parcels, it runs from the last one.
To use it, tell us within those 14 days — an email to store@askenback.com with your order number is enough, and you may also use the standard withdrawal form published by the Swedish Consumer Agency (Konsumentverket). Then send the goods back within 14 days of telling us. You pay the return postage. We refund within 14 days of receiving your notice, though we may wait until the goods are back with us or you have shown proof of return.
The right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised — a commission in dimensions or a leather we do not sell as standard, or a piece stamped with your initials. Standard pieces from the shop keep the full 14-day right even though they are made after you order. If something you are about to order falls outside the right of withdrawal, we will tell you in writing and ask you to confirm before we start.
The full procedure, including the return address and how the refund is calculated, is on the Shipping & returns page.
9. If something is wrong with your piece
This is separate from the right of withdrawal and lasts much longer. Under the Swedish Consumer Sales Act (konsumentköplagen (2022:260)) you can complain about a fault for three years from delivery. Tell us within a reasonable time of discovering it — anything reported within two months of you noticing counts as in time.
A fault that shows up within the first two years is presumed to have been there at delivery unless we can show otherwise. After that, you may need to show that the fault was present from the start. Where the complaint is justified we repair or replace the piece — your choice, unless one option is impossible or disproportionately expensive — and if neither works, you can get a price reduction or cancel the purchase. We pay the return postage on faulty goods.
Natural variation in the leather, patina, and normal wear from use are not faults. Neither is damage from an accident, misuse or alterations made after delivery. Details of how to file a complaint are on the Shipping & returns page.
On top of this statutory right, and without limiting it, we give a voluntary five-year guarantee against manufacturing and material defects to the original owner, on the terms set out on the Warranty page.
10. Things outside our control
We are not liable for delays caused by events we cannot reasonably control — carrier strikes, extreme weather, fire, war, or a supplier failing on materials. If such an event delays your order, we will tell you, and if it drags on you can cancel and get a full refund. This does not limit your statutory rights.
11. Your personal data
We collect only what is needed to take payment, ship your order and keep the books. What we collect, who processes it and how long we keep it is set out in the privacy policy.
12. Images and text on this site
Photographs, product texts, designs and the Askenback name belong to One Man Empire AB. You are welcome to share a link or a picture with credit; please ask before using anything commercially.
13. Governing law and disputes
Swedish law applies to these terms. If you are a consumer resident in another EU or EEA country, you also keep the protection given by the mandatory consumer rules of the country you live in.
If we disagree about something, write to us first — most things are solved in one email. If we cannot agree, you can take the dispute free of charge to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes, Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN), Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm, arn.se. A complaint must be filed with ARN within one year of you first complaining to us, and ARN applies minimum claim values per category. We take part in ARN proceedings and follow their recommendations.
If you live in another EU country, the European Consumer Centre network can help with a cross-border dispute — in Sweden that is Konsument Europa at konsumenteuropa.se. The EU online dispute resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 and is no longer a route. You can of course also take the matter to a Swedish general court.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms — new payment methods, new shipping destinations, corrections. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published here when you placed the order, so save or print it if you want your own copy.
